Rare 44pyy marked Berg & Co K98 Bayonet (G733)

With this K98 bayonet it is all about the rare maker mark.  This is a genuine and rare 44pyy maker marked K98 bayonet with matching numbers.
 
The 44pyy mark is very scarce and it indicates a small run of K98 bayonets manufactured late war 1944 by the maker Berg & Co.
 
Sadly it has lived its life, appears to be an issued bayonet, and has been roughly cleaned, but a 44pyy marked bayonet in good condition can sell for anywhere from $900-$1300 due to the rarity of the maker mark. We suspect a portion of old cleaning cloth is at the bottom of the scabbard as the blade won’t fully seat in the scabbard.
 
Despite its condition, a very rare item based on the 44pyy marking. On the rarity scale for maker marks from 1-4 this mark is rated a high 3.
